About Genpop
The world is full
of interesting
people.
What we are
A database.
Not an
agency.
Genpop is a street casting database. We find real people — with real skills, real jobs, real faces — and make them findable by the productions that need them.
We are not a talent agency. We don’t represent anyone. We don’t take a cut of bookings. We don’t manage careers. We’re an introduction service — we connect the right person with the right project, and then we get out of the way.
Production companies and agencies come to us when they need someone authentic — a real telemark skier, an actual farrier, a brass band that actually plays together. Not someone who looks the part. The real thing.
What Genpop
is not.
Not a talent agency. We don’t represent talent. There’s no agent, no management, no exclusive arrangement. People in our database are free to work with whoever they want.
Not a casting agency. We don’t run the casting process for productions. We provide access to the database and facilitate introductions. Productions manage their own process.
Not fee-based for talent. Joining the database is free. Always. We make no money from people signing up. Ever.
Not a commitment.Being in the database doesn’t obligate you to anything. Jobs come in, you say yes or no. Simple.
How it started
Built during
a slow
moment.

Genpop started in 2020 — during COVID, when productions were quiet and there was time to think. The idea was simple: there are so many interesting people out there who never get cast because they’re not on anyone’s roster.
The original version was built on Airtable and a lot of hope. It connected real people with real clients — Air Canada, Rocky Mountaineer, Rethink, DDB — and it worked well enough to prove the concept.
The current version is a proper platform. Built to scale across campaigns, cities, and verticals. BC first. Then the rest of the country. Then wherever the work is.
Who’s worked with us
Brands, agencies,
and photographers
who get it.
Based in BC.
For now.
The database is currently focused on British Columbia. That’s where the work started, and that’s where we’re building the foundation.
If you’re outside BC — sign up anyway. We’re building toward a national database and we’ll find you when the work gets there. The weirder your skill, the more we want you in early.
Automotive is coming. Other verticals are coming. The database grows with the work.
